Who We
Can Help

Funded By The Scottish Government

We’re fully funded by the Scottish Government’s Support in the Right Direction Fund (SiRD) and operate independently from Social Work, NHS, and care providers. Whether you’re dealing with a formal social care assessment or exploring community-based resources and grants, we’re here to support you at any stage.

Here’s How
We Can Help

Even after our initial involvement ends, you can reach out any time for more assistance. We’re here to help you confidently navigate your social care journey.

Our Approach & Principles

The Community Brokerage Network promotes independent living and the four statutory principles of the SDS Act: Participation and Dignity, Involvement, Informed Choice, and Collaboration. In doing so, we adhere to the following additional principles.
Relationship Based

Building trust is central to what we do. We take time to have meaningful conversations with those we support, exploring their priorities and understanding their preferences for communication and support.

Community Based

Our brokers are local people with local knowledge and connections, many with first hand experience of the social work assessment process and managing SDS Option 1 arrangements for family members.

Not for Profits

We are an independent, not-for-profit organisation fully funded by the Scottish Government. We provide free support, information, and advice to anyone in need of social care, either through their Health and Social Care Partnership or community-based resources.

Available for All Ages

Our brokers are here to help everyone, regardless of their needs, challenges, or age. They have the skills, knowledge, and understanding to tailor support to each individual’s circumstances.

Useful Links and FAQS

We are happy to help people facing challenges who may not be eligible for a formal assessment of needs through their local authority but could benefit from being connected to community-based resources and services to improve their quality of life.

All of our brokers are highly trained, experienced with Self Directed Support, and well-connected in their local communities. Generally, we assign brokers to clients based on their locality and any specific expertise the broker may have. If you have a preference for a particular broker, we will do our best to accommodate your request. However, due to fluctuating capacity and workloads, it may not always be possible.

Yes, we can support clients who have specific housing needs due to a disability to request an occupational therapy assessment that may assist with the allocation of additional social housing points.
