About Us
The Community Brokerage Network is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company that has been helping people in Ayrshire navigate their social care journeys since 2012. We offer comprehensive support to help you explore your entitlements and understand the community-based options available.
Pioneering
Development
We’ve played a key role in developing the National Brokerage Framework for Scotland. Since 2019, we’ve also delivered the acclaimed SQA (Level 7) in Community Brokerage. Each year, more individuals have completed this Award, and its management has now transferred to Self Directed Support Scotland, allowing for further investment and national reach for the qualification.
Supporting People with Social Care
Our team provides guidance and support throughout the social work assessment journey, helping individuals create person-centred support plans. We consider all four Self Directed Support (SDS) options and optimise community-based opportunities to meet individual needs. For those not eligible for formal care, we assist in building support plans using accessible, low-cost community services and exploring eligible grants.
Our team offers one-to-one support throughout the entire process, including:
- Initial information provision
- Referral to social services, if appropriate
- Assistance in preparing for a social work assessment, if offered
- Recognising your strengths, help to put plans in place to meet your goals and outcomes
- Support to consider which of the four SDS Options suit you best
- Introduction to local services and resources

Our Operations Manager, a local Ayrshire resident with first-hand experience in Self-Directed Support, leads our team with dedication and insight.
Alongside our Operations Manager, our Board members bring personal experiences in self-directing support. They meet regularly to provide peer support and to innovate our approach to assistance.
We know the local community’s needs because of our team’s personal experiences and training. This helps us provide the right support for everyone. We encourage creativity and independence in managing care.
