Option Four
Mix and Match for Care and Support
You can mix parts of different options to suit your needs.
What It Means For You
You can mix parts of different options to suit your needs. For example, you might get local authority care for important things such as providing daily help with personal care and hire personal assistants for other help or buy special equipment to reach your goals.
Things To Keep In Mind
Option 4 offers the most flexible approach to managing your care, allowing you to combine direct payments, local authority services, and other services, such as a care provider.
It is important to remember that if you are using a combination of care providers and PA’s to provide your support, all of the employer and administrative responsibilities outlined in Option 1 still apply, as does the need to have a guardianship order in place if you are making decisions on behalf of someone who lacks capacity.
Support Thats There For You
You’ll keep getting help from brokers, employment services, and your social worker. They’ll keep your support plan on track, explain what you need to do, and help you manage your budget.
This way, you can set up your support in a way that fits how you live and what you want to achieve.
SDS Payroll Management
SDS Payroll Management Services offered by Ailn and PIP
We do not get involved when it comes to recruiting and managing personal assistants or other staff. There are other organisations who specialise in this area.
Ailn (Ayrshire Independent Living Network) and PIP (Partners in Personalisation) offer tailored SDS Payroll Management Services that are accessible, helpful, and straightforward. They understand the unique needs of individuals managing their own care and adjust their services accordingly.
Their services have a charge, but your SDS personal budget includes funding to cover this cost if needed. As not-for-profit organisations, Ailn and PIP reinvest profits back into their services for continuous improvement and added benefits.
Usual Link and FAQS
You will need to understand your allocated budget and how it is divided among the different types of services you choose. This should be discussed with your Social Worker or Care Manager when you are agreeing your support plan. Normally you will only be responsible for managing and reporting on any funds spent under the Direct Payment element of this package of support.
As with an Option 1, if you hire personal assistants with direct payments, you will have employment responsibilities, including contracts, salaries, and compliance with employment laws. Seek advice and support from a Payroll Management company such as Ailn or PIP to manage these responsibilities effectively.
Your care plan is usually reviewed once a year. However, if your needs change before your scheduled review, you can contact your social worker or care manager for an earlier review. This way, you can discuss any changes in your needs and your preferences for how your care is provided. If you need help with this, your broker can support you through the process. Feel free to reach out to us anytime.
