Liz has campaigned for the rights of people with learning disabilities for most of her life. Her passion comes from her personal experiences with her son and sister, both with learning disabilities. She has first-hand experience with special schooling and planning for adult life. Liz earned an SQA Level 7 award in Community Brokerage Award and understands Self-Directed Support. She knows the challenges families face when planning for an independent future. Since 2014, Liz has run the Quality Improvements Service at Values Into Action Scotland. She has worked with young people, women’s groups, individuals with learning disabilities, and the voluntary sector since the mid-80s.
Fun-loving and passionate about the outdoors, Liz enjoys gardening, running, and going to the gym, balancing her love of cake making, chocolate, and good wine.
