Meet Laurie

Communications and Social Media Assistant

About Laurie

Laurie joined the Community Brokerage Network in 2025 as Communications and Social Media Assistant. A student journalist in his third year at university, he brings a strong interest in digital media, storytelling, and all things social media.

Laurie has lived experience of accessing Self-Directed Support, having been supported by CBN to put the right arrangements in place to live more independently. As a young adult with cerebral palsy and a wheelchair user, he understands just how important the right support can be – even for things that many people take for granted, like getting to university. His personal journey brings valuable insight and passion to his role.

At CBN, Laurie is helping to relaunch the organisation’s online presence, updating the website and managing content across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. He’s focused on making sure more people know who CBN are, what they do, and how to get support when it’s needed.

Outside of work, Laurie is a football fanatic who enjoys getting to as many games as possible. He also volunteers at his local hospital radio station and has a real passion for podcasting – usually found behind a microphone or a keyboard!

Laurie also features in one of CBN’s most recent video case studies, which highlights how Self-Directed Support, used in conjunction with SAAS funding, can enable young disabled students to maintain continuity of care and support throughout their studies.
